Falcons soar to new heights during holiday break

Group of student-athletes

Our Albany High School boys' indoor track and field team did not let the holiday break slow it down! On Dec. 21, the team competed at the JAMBAR Coaches Hall of Fame Invite at The Nike Track & Field Center at the Armory in New York City.

Under the guidance of coach Steven Gallagher, our student-athletes had a stellar competition, and many performed a personal best in their event.

Here are a few event highlights:

  • Samir Gardner earned first place in the long jump, tying our school record set in 2010 with a jump of 22-11.25! His jump was also a meet record. !

  • Our 4x200 relay team -- Gardner, Daaron Harrell, Nasief Smith and Rohan Edwards-Grant -- placed second with a time of 1:31.65

  • Edwards-Grant placed second in the 55 meters with a time of 6.55 seconds. Gardner placed third in 6.68 seconds.

We are extremely proud of our student-athletes and can't wait to see how they will continue to soar as the winter season carries on! The Falcons' next meet will be on Sunday, Jan. 5 at at Union College beginning at 8 a.m.

Let's go Falcons!
