Albany voters overwhelmingly approved the City School District of Albany’s budget on Tuesday, with a record 83% saying “yes” to the proposal for the 2024-25 school year.
The $326.2 million budget will continue to support all current programs and staffing, while also investing in additional staffing and support for students. That includes 25.6 new positions.
In unofficial results Tuesday night, voters approved the budget 2,118-422. The 83% approval tops last year’s 80%. It also is the ninth time in the last 10 years that approval has topped 70%.
Voters also gave strong support to three additional school-related propositions:
- Proposition #2 allows the district to create a new Capital Reserve Fund to support future facilities needs.
- Proposition #3 allows the district to purchase two 10-passenger vans to assist with student transportation.
- Proposition #4 allows the district to purchase a parking lot on Spruce Street near Academy Park. The district currently leases the space for employees at the district headquarters building.
