Four unique academies, one great education

Albany High serves students in grades 9-12 and features four smaller learning communities, or academies: Citizenship, Discovery, Innovation and Leadership. Each academy offers the same core courses in English, math, science and social studies, and electives are grouped in relation to each academy's unique theme. However, all students are able to choose electives outside of their academy, selecting from the full scope of Albany High's rich and diverse course offerings.

All the academies offer the same core classes and outstanding academic opportunities.

Career and Technical Education (CTE)

Albany High School offers 21st-century career and technical education (CTE) programming that ranges from students taking single classes in an area of interest to students completing a career pathway.  Students enter “pathways” in skilled trades, applied sciences and technology that prepares students for an entry-level job, college or both.

CTE subject areas that students can take include automotive technology, business, construction technology, cosmetology, culinary arts, human services, health sciences and pre-engineering.

Rebuilding Albany High School

Construction began in 2018 on a $179.9 million project to renovate and expand Albany High School. The project will add more than 250,000 square feet of new facilities and completely renovate the existing 378,000-square-foot complex. The project will expand the school's capacity to about 3,000 students; Albany High enrolls about 2,500 students currently and has run out of space to add new classrooms.
