Welcome back, Falcons!
On Thursday, Sept. 3, we will celebrate the start of the new school year with our Welcome Back Event, which will run from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m.!
All students in grades 9-12 are invited to stop by between 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. to pick up everything they need for their first day of school, including Chromebooks, IDs, schedules and locker assignments.

The first day of the 2026-27 school year is Friday, Sept. 4!
- Grade 9: entry, schedule distribution and breakfast will take place from 8-8:30 a.m., and the first day programming will run from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Grades 10-12: students will attend from 12:30-3:30 p.m.

Summer Graduation 2026
Congratulations to our Falcons who joined Albany High School’s Class of 2026 on Aug. 24! We are immensely proud of each of our 60 graduates and wish them the absolute best in their future endeavors! of the festivities.
Albany High hosts first Talent & Workforce Roundtable
New York is redesigning what it means to graduate from high school, and the City School District of Albany is proud to lead the way in fostering important conversations amongst leaders in education, business and workforce development to ensure that students are set up for success and have the competencies they need to thrive in college, careers and civic life.
On Thursday, Albany High School hosted an Albany Talent & Workforce Roundtable as part of the district's Leadership Week activities. All district administrators, teachers and school support staff from throughout the district, and students from Albany High took part in a morning-long program that included panel discussions and breakout sessions.

Sign up for the PSAT
Albany High School will administer the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT) during the school day on Friday, Oct. 23, starting at 7:45 a.m. in the main gymnasium. Any student who is a sophomore or junior during the 2026–27 school year may take the test. Visit our event calendar for additional information, including details on how to register for the test.

We are counting the days until Albany High School's Homecoming Weekend, which will take place Friday, Oct. 2 and Saturday, Oct. 3!

Get ready to celebrate the Class of 2026!
Our Class of 2026 Graduation Ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 28 at noon at MVP Arena. Guests are reminded to bring their tickets for entry!
The ceremony will be livestreamed starting at noon via our .
Seniors and families, here are a few important details for the days to come:
- Graduates should arrive at the Beaver Street entrance promptly at 11 a.m. so they can pass through routine security checks and line up for the procession.
- The arena will open its doors for guests at the main entrance on Pearl Street and the entrance on Market Street at 11 a.m., and the ceremony will begin at noon sharp.
- Guests will pass through routine security to enter into the seating area in the arena prior to presenting their ticket. Tickets will be scanned by an attendant to allow entry directly after the security check.

- Parents and loved ones, we have an option to for graduation that will be available for pick-up right at the venue the day of the event.
- Photos taken during the graduation ceremony by our district photographers will be posted on our district and Albany High Facebook and Instagram pages.

- Please remember to fill out your senior survey in . This must be completed so we can send your high school transcripts to your college, university or program you will attend post-graduation.
- Google Takeout is a service that students can opt in to in order to transfer their files to a personal account. Students must complete to participate. Google Takeout will be available June 1-30. for additional details.

In order to receive a diploma, graduates must return all school property and pay any outstanding balances prior to graduation, including exam fees, Chromebooks, library books, textbooks and athletic equipment and uniforms.
Dual Language Ceremony at AIA
Some of our amazing Dual Language seniors came together at Albany International Academy with their loved ones for ! The energy was unmatched—the event kicked off with our current dual language students cheering them through the halls and wrapped up with the seniors sharing their exciting college plans.
We couldn’t be prouder of these incredible students!
Albany High Summer School
At Albany High, we will be offering two programs for summer learning: enrichment courses for first-time credit and courses for credit recovery. Both programs will begin on Monday, July 13 and will end on Monday, Aug. 17. Students will attend class Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m.-12:10 p.m.
Enrichment course offerings are health, multicultural studies and media literacy. Registration is open and will close on Monday, July 6 at noon.
Course offerings for credit recovery include a variety of options in English, math, science, social studies, art, world languages, physical education and more! Registration will open on Monday, June 29 and will continue until July 6 at noon.

Summer open gym sessions
We invite our student-athletes in grades 9-12 to participate in our open gym sessions this summer, which kick off on Monday, June 6! There are open gyms for specific sports, as well as open workout times in our weight and cardio rooms available to all Albany High students who would like to stay healthy and fit during the summer season. Class of 1965 gifts gallery display case
Thanks to Albany High's Class of 1965, our Falcon artists now have a beautiful glass display case to exhibit their artwork! As our fine arts program continues to thrive here at Albany High, our students are producing pieces across a wide variety of artistic disciplines, and we are dedicated to celebrating their work within our walls and beyond. The display case was installed this past week, along with a commemorative sign which celebrates the investment of these thoughtful alumni who chose to pour into the next generation. Meet Christina Pringle: a trailblazer in the arts
Congratulations to Albany High senior Christina Pringle, who is our first Falcon to complete the New York State Individual Arts Assessment Pathway!Pringle is a prolific and talented artist, and her appreciation for creativity started at a young age. To complete the IAAP pathway, Pringle took three years of art coursework and curated a portfolio that showcased her growth and development as an artist. Check out this news story to learn more.

Free summer meals
The City School District of Albany is once again participating in the Summer Food Service Program, with free meals for all children 18 and under at 11 schools across the city.
The program serves breakfast and lunch at district schools on the dates and times are available on this web page.
Falcon Market summer hours
Our Falcon Market will continue to operate during the summer months, beginning on Monday, July 6. The summer hours are Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
