Welcome back, Falcons!

On Thursday, Sept. 3, we will celebrate the start of the new school year with our Welcome Back Event, which will run from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m.!

All students in grades 9-12 are invited to stop by between 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. to pick up everything they need for their first day of school, including Chromebooks, IDs, schedules and locker assignments.

First day of school is Friday, Sept. 4

The first day of the 2026-27 school year is Friday, Sept. 4!

  • Grade 9: entry, schedule distribution and breakfast will take place from 8-8:30 a.m., and the first day programming will run from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Grades 10-12: students will attend from 12:30-3:30 p.m.

Summer Graduation 2026

Congratulations to our Falcons who joined Albany High School’s Class of 2026 on Aug. 24! We are immensely proud of each of our 60 graduates and wish them the absolute best in their future endeavors! of the festivities. 


Albany High hosts first Talent & Workforce Roundtable

New York is redesigning what it means to graduate from high school, and the City School District of Albany is proud to lead the way in fostering important conversations amongst leaders in education, business and workforce development to ensure that students are set up for success and have the competencies they need to thrive in college, careers and civic life.

On Thursday, Albany High School hosted an Albany Talent & Workforce Roundtable as part of the district's Leadership Week activities. All district administrators, teachers and school support staff from throughout the district, and students from Albany High took part in a morning-long program that included panel discussions and breakout sessions.

Fall sports season is here!

Our high school fall sports are in full swing, and our first home games are right around the corner! Here are some helpful details for our Falcon fans and student-athletes:

  • Albany Athletics is thrilled to announce a new fall sport — the Albany High spirit team! City School District of Albany students in grades 9-12 are invited to participate, and tryouts will take place on Friday, Sept. 11, from 3:45-6 p.m. in the dance studio (room 3132) at Albany High. Sign up for the PSAT

Albany High School will administer the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT) during the school day on Friday, Oct. 23, starting at 7:45 a.m. in the main gymnasium. Any student who is a sophomore or junior during the 2026–27 school year may take the test. Visit our event calendar for additional information, including details on how to register for the test.


Partner with the Albany Booster Club

The Albany Booster Club is a not-for-profit organization that provides funding to support athletic and extracurricular programs districtwide, with a specific focus on Albany High School. The generosity and volunteerism of everyday individuals are paramount to the success of the organization — that's where you come in!

Save the date for Homecoming 2026!

We are counting the days until Albany High School's Homecoming Weekend, which will take place Friday, Oct. 2 and Saturday, Oct. 3!

Join us for a festive and fun weekend that will include home sports competitions, the City School District of Albany Hall of Fame 2026 Induction Ceremony, a parade, dance performances, a tailgate party, booths, a home football game and more.


Senior portraits

Class of 2027, you can now make appointments for your senior portraits! Upstate Images will be holding senior portrait sessions at Albany High on Dec. 4, Dec. 7-10 and Dec. 15-18. Check out this news story to learn how to book your session.


Masterclass workshops: dance and acting

Albany High students who will be in grades 9–12 for the 2026-27 school year are invited to register for our free masterclass workshops! Each workshop will be offered on two different dates and will be hosted in the Albany High auditorium. Students are welcome to register for dance, acting or both! Falcons' Best Dance Crew

Do you have what it takes to be Albany High’s best dance crew? Join us for a one-of-a-kind dance competition this October to showcase your moves and compete for a cash prize! Participation is free and open to all Albany High students that will be in grades 9-12 for the 2026-27 school year.

Our Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is excited to collaborate with parents, guardians and students as we embrace a new school year at Albany High.
