New security procedures start Dec. 10

Over the past several weeks, we have shared information about new walk-through and bag scanners that will be installed at Albany High, as well as presentations to answer questions and address concerns. We appreciate your support and partnership as we continue to work together to ensure a positive and safe learning environment for everyone in our school community.

After receiving your feedback, we have updated our timeline of the rollout to Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Photo re-take day: Monday, Dec. 8

Attention families of students in grades 9-11! If your student missed their photo session or needs a re-take, they can get their photo taken on Monday, Dec. 8.

Seniors, time is running out to schedule senior portraits!

We will be holding sessions for senior portraits the week of Dec. 8 and the week of Dec. 15. Please note these are the only sessions we will offer at Albany High for senior portraits this year. Appointments are on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage seniors to book their session as soon as possible to get their preferred date and time.

Songs of the season

Wintertime brings lots of wonderful opportunities to enjoy beautiful music performed by our Falcon musicians. Be sure to check out these upcoming performances:

  • The Albanettes and Troubadours will perform at the City of Albany Annual Holiday Tree Lighting at Academy Park on Friday, Dec. 5 at 5 p.m. Be sure to grab some !
  • The B Flats will perform at the Pine Hills library from 6-7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5 for an art exhibition opening.
  • Our second winter concert will be held at Albany High on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. and will feature our string orchestra, symphonic band and vocal music.

Debate For Change

The Albany High Student Government is hosting an event on Thursday, Dec. 11 after school to invite students to discuss important topics together. for more details! 


Seeking volunteers for the concessions stand

Winter sports season has kicked off, and we are pumped for lots of exciting home games here at The Nest! The Albany Booster Club is seeking volunteers to help with our concessions stand at home games. Student and adult volunteers are welcome. This is a great opportunity for students to earn volunteer hours towards their honor cords.

Secretary of State visits the Albany High barber shop!

On Wednesday, our Albany High Barbering III students welcomed a very special guest: New York Secretary of State Walter T. Mosley! Mosley shared words of encouragement and inspiration with our students, urging them to boldly embrace the opportunities at hand. of our next generation barbers giving Mosely an edge-up!


Lunch and Learn: Actuarial Science

Our next Lunch and Learn is Friday, Dec. 12! Students who enjoy math and statistics won't want to miss this informative session. Check out our calendar event to learn more!


Gearing up for success with work-based learning

Stay cozy with a free winter coat!

Thanks to the City of Albany's Cash for Coats program, we've been able to distribute lots of cozy winter coats to our Falcons this past week. If your student needs a winter coat, hat and/or gloves, please have them stop by the school store before school or during their lunch period. Free coats will also be available in our Falcon Boutique (room 3314), which is open Monday-Thursday from 3:30-5 p.m. and Friday from 3:30-4:30 p.m.


Online Success Program

Our Online Success Center Program allows students to raise their grade for previous quarters. This is a fantastic opportunity for our Falcons to earn back credit and enhance their academic achievement! to learn more!


After-school tutoring at Albany High

Falcons, do you need extra help with your coursework? Join us at our , which runs Monday through Thursday from 3:30-5:00 p.m. in room 2235. If you need extra help with your classes, come join us and get some support from Albany High teachers. Hope to see you there!
