They painted. They sipped (hot cocoa!). And they painted some more.
Students in Heather Bryant and Stacy VanCott’s social-emotional learning classes at Tony Clement Center for Education took part on Friday in a holiday-themed paint-and-sip session.
The students each were given a blank canvas, and they received a tutorial on blending paints into a winter sky background. They intently applied hues of acrylic paint to their canvases, and as they waited for paint to dry, they created their own designer hot-cocoas complete with mini-marshmallows, colored sprinkles, crushed peppermint candy and plenty of whipped cream
They returned to their canvases to tackle the subject: a snowman (their cocoa was replenished as needed). The result of their efforts? Winterscape portraits that will be displayed in the school hallways. Some might make it home as holiday gifts for family members!
